Struggling With Sir Worry & Lady Doubt (Part 4)
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
Mr. Depression and Mrs. Misery have just had children and we see that their birth certificate reads “Sir Worry & Lady Doubt”. They appear to be normal children until they reach their adolescence. Then we begin to see their personalities come out and identify them with these characteristics. This week we will learn about the differences between Sir Worry and Lady Doubt and how they can effect us in our lives by:
When Sir Worry & Lady Doubt were growing up, there was hardly anything that made their parents Mr. Depression & Mrs. Misery believe that their children had adopted some of their traits. However, in the life of a believer, when one lives with constant misery, then we see it will not be long before depression visits. When these two meet then the result of their combined effects will be Worry & Doubt! Join us this week as we discuss SIR Worry & LADY Doubt.
IV. The Repulsive & Before Thoughts
Sir Worry & Lady Doubt are being closely watched by the authorities: Officer MG (Mercy Grace) and a new character Mr. Encouragement. The authorities have made a few observations that they wish to share with us today. They indicate that they have learned a few things from their close observations that will help us get the victory. Here are their findings:
Sir Worry tends to sit in one location and not move until he is requested to come with the person whom he has attached himself. In short, Sir Worry, has such a good rapport with people initially that they consider him a close friends even though he causes them to have repulsive thoughts and emotions. How? He whispers thoughts of personal loss in the areas that people fear the most. Mr. Encouragement asks “Have you ever noticed that you ONLY worry about things that you fear losing or being hurt?” He further adds “Even though the thought of losing the things and people close to you being hurt is repulsive, just remember that he has limitations. Sir Worry can only attack ONE area at a time; you may worry about multiple areas at a time but God only allows him so much slack on the leash. This is consistent with the bible verse 1 Corinthians 10:13 ‘There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.‘ If God is able to protect you from Sir Worry, then He is able to protect you from anything.
Lady Doubt tends to be more of a follower and never sits still. She tends to be the arms and the legs for Sir Worry. He does most of his best work in homes, cars or in your workplace. Lady Doubt does her best work while on the move and before you have the ability to settle in or read your bible and pray. She knows that if you get into the bible then you will have the ability to focus on God and not “Doubt” God’s ability to help you and your situation. Mr Encouragement explains “Lady Doubt has a horrible reputation of making people see things that aren’t there and hearing things that haven’t been said.” Mr. Encouragement goes on to say “She also realizes that if you keep yourself very busy that there is a likelihood that you will not even notice her. This is why she is constantly on the move and tries to come up as much as possible especially when your minds is not engaged with work. This is consistent with the bible verse 1 Peter 5:8 ‘Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:’. If you give an inch of your mind to her, she won’t rest until she controls it.”
“Ladies & Gentlemen reading this report & devotional, please remember that these are two spiritual terrorist! They only seek to scare you and draw an emotional and spiritual response from you in order to make you do something that you don’t wish to do. They seek to have you follow, obey and yield to their will and turn away from The Father. All you have to do is remember that the first 5 minutes after a situation are very important; this can make or break you spiritually and emotionally. Spend time reading the bible or meditating on Hid promises and in prayer. Has God EVER failed you yet? If He hasn’t then why would you think that he will now.” In tomorrow’s devotional we will finish this series and learn new things that will help you as you deal with Sir Worry and Lady Doubt.
