Romans 12:15 “Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.”
Once again, America has been rocked once again by the violence of an active shooter event! Why has this happened? No-one knows. However, this shooter event has been one of the worst ones in American history. Here are the stats:
We continue to see people express their displeasure & interpersonal conflict with violence and bloodshed. This isn’t new and has been around since before the flood in Noah’s age;
“And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.”
Unfortunately, there isn’t much that we can do when a gunman is holding a gun to our bodies and about to squeeze the trigger. However, there are things that we can do to avoid being a victim or worse a casualty.
- Live Righteously For God – Noah and his kin were the ONLY family, at that time, that lived for God. Seeking to do the right thing will not only keep you out of bad places or situations but will please God.
- Let Others Know God Cares For Them – Noah spent over 120 years building the ark and no doubt preaching the message of danger and doom to all of the onlookers. Sharing the love of Jesus will allow others to learn of and know God themselves.
- Listen To The Man Of God – There is a quote that says “Sin will is pleasurable for a season. However, it will take you farther than you want to go and cost you more than you want to pay; it will never allow you to go, and it will keep you longer than you would like to stay!” When we avoid the teachings of the man of God we set-up ourselves for a violent end.
It is not my intention to discredit the dead nor is it my intention to pour salt in any wounds of any grieving friends, families or loved ones. However, we live in a time where it is taboo to share the gospel of Jesus Christ in situations that the gospel should be shared. We live in a day where we are encouraged to follow the social norm of the winds of acceptance. Jesus Christ is the only person who can bring comfort and peace. In this time of American morning and grief, we should all be reminded that Jesus Christ does not care about your sin nor does He care about your past. He only cares about the present and what you choose to do with your sin today. You can allow Him to take it or you can allow yourself to carry it. The bible tells us that He took the pain and suffering for us so we don’t have to:
“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
Today as we morn the loss of life, let’s remember that the politicians will not change the culture of our country it is ONLY the sovereign hand of Almighty God. Do you personally know the Creator of the universe? He knows and loves you. Why not begin a relationship with Him today? May God watch over our country and those that protect us as we live for Him.
