Words Have Power!!! (5th Word)
“Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.”
We are often told, when we are young, that “Sticks and stones my break my bones but words NEVER hurt me.” If you’re like me, and every other human, words do hurt but worse yet, they remain in the minds of those to whom they have been spoken. Many people have been helped and hurt by the words that we have used. How are your words used? Do you speak in a rough way to others and use tough words? Words DO matter! Join us this week as we share 5 important words.
5th Word GRACE
G – God’s
What does this mean? It means that there are things that belong to God. The bible tells us what these things are in detail.
I Corinthians 10:26 “For the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof.”
Psalms 24:1 “The earth is the Lord ‘s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.”
Acts 7:49 “Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?”
I Corinthians 6:19-20 “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price:therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s”
If you owned something, then whatever you choose to do would not only be the right thing, but it would be your right to do it. According to the verses of scripture all things belong to God. If all things belong to God, surely he can do what He pleases and when He pleases. We belong to God and everything that we have belong to Him.
R – Riches
Riches are defined as “having value, wealth or great substance.” Riches aren’t just tokens of monetary exchange but they can also be things that aren’t seen or handled by human hands. These things are: love, peace, understanding, wisdom, purity and mercy. These are the things that most people yearn for but usually fail to gain. Notice what the bible tells us:
Colossians 2:2 “That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;”
Besides money, what riches do you have? Do you have the richness of Christ’s love and peace? Are you rich in love and mercy or is it just things that can burn up leaving nothing lasting?
A – At
This word describes the position in place in time, it also represents an amount of something, a specific goal and the source at which one achieves power. I think about a hymn that I heard titled, “At The Cross”. All people look to the event of the cross for salvation and healing. At what are you spending your time, energy and emotions? Is it something that’s AT the center of God’s will or is it AT your own desires?
C – Christ’s
Jesus Christ is our Lord and He gave Himself freely so that we could enjoy the perfection of Heaven through His sacrifice. The bible tells us that:
Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
I could talk for hours about my personal Lord and Savior Jesus Christ until the sky falls. Briefly, I will say that Jesus Christ is my friend and I am not as good to Him as He is to me but He still loves me better than anyone could ever love me. I know most people will not understand this but it is a truth!
E – Expense
This word means that God inherited our, man-kind’s, debt as His own and He paid it in full. He didn’t owe it but He volunteered to pay it without an argument. He didn’t delay paying it nor did He defer it to another time, He paid it in full. So now if we only trust in Him, we can be debt free! We all have a debt to pay, that debt is sin! We have a sin nature from the very beginning of time but Jesus can pay your sin debt and make you free. Have you trusted in Him today? Grace is ONLY a call away.
