Words Have Power!!! (4th Word)

Words Have Power!!! (4th Word)

Proverbs 30:5

“Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.”

We are often told, when we are young, that “Sticks and stones my break my bones but words NEVER hurt me.” If you’re like me, and every other human, words do hurt but worse yet, they remain in the minds of those to whom they have been spoken. Many people have been helped and hurt by the words that we have used. How are your words used? Do you speak in a rough way to others and use tough words? Words DO matter! Join us this week as we share 5 important words.

FEAR

F – False

The bible tells us in II Corinthians 11:13-15 “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.” There are many people in this world that are not genuine but deceptive. So how can you tell if someone is false?

  1. No Evidence –
    • Romans 1:20 “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:”
      • For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made,” – There are some things that are invisible but are clearly seen like: emotions, laws, rules & regulations. These things are not seen but we know that they are from God and they also connect us to God.
      • When a person says that they don’t believe in God after they have heard a convicting salvation message and the Holy Ghost is bringing conviction; they are not being true because God is working in their heart. God stirs their remembrance and their emotions so that we look to Him. When they say that they feel nothing or they don’t believe God is real, they are simply choosing to remain ignorant.
      • even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:” – When people say “If God is so powerful, then why don’t He show His power so that we can believe?” I reply with this statement. Do you see body builders going around flipping over cars? No! Just because they can, they choose to show restraint because chaos will not help anyone but your ego. However, when God chooses to demonstrate His power people are without excuse.
        • When this comes up again ask the person who has questioned you this; Can you explain how God can allow a natural disaster to hit and kill an entire family but spare a child safe and unharmed? According to the law of statistics & the law of survival of the fittest, this small child should have died. God chooses to show His power to help others not to brag that He displayed it to prove to people, that won’t believe in Him, that He is actually there.
  2. No Testimony
    • John 15:26 “But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:”
      • “But when the Comforter is come,” – Only God can send a witness that testifies of Himself. There is comfort in speaking the truth because the Spirit testifies of The Truth.
      • whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth” – Jesus has power to send a powerful testimony from God. He will guide into ALL TRUTH.
      • which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:” – When a man of God shares the Truth the Spirit of Truth “Supports” what this man is teaching. In error or false doctrine The Spirit of Truth is not present. The spirit of confusion is present.

When it comes to The Truth, The Spirit of Truth will never make you feel scared or confused! He will testify of God bringing conviction but never terror.

E – Evidence

Webster’s dictionary defines evidence as “items that prove or disprove something; grounds for belief or proof. Something that makes plain or clear.” So when we logically begin to make a decision in the trails of life without the proper evidence to support the verdict we risk mistrials. When law enforcement lacks the evidence to confirm guilt or innocence, they stay the course and keep searching for the evidence.

The bible says in Proverbs 23:23 “Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.” All too often we are willing to sell out our quest for the truth for the convenience of instant answers. Why? It is easier to quickly move on something that remotely seems logical instead of waiting to discover the truth. In your walk with God, Do you settle on the first thing that seems right to you instead of looking for the mind of God? The bible warns us about this in Proverbs 21: “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes:
but the Lord pondereth the hearts.” You can do what you want but The Lord will always have the last word!

A – Appearing

When something appears, it either suddenly or gradually materializes in a way that we recognize. The devil loves to make things appear in a way that we recognize so that we can see that thing instead of keeping our eyes on God. Don’t believe me? Look at Adam and Eve. We are told how long the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good evil was in the garden. However, Adam and Eve were not tempted until the devil made it suddenly materialize in a way that they recognized! Isn’t that what he does to us? Especially when people hurt or disrespect us.

When things materialize before us we should stop for a moment and ask God to show us what He wants us to see in the situation. How many times have you been driving or walking on a hot day and thought that you’ve seen water sitting on the roadway but when you finally arrive to that destination you discover that it was a mirage. Sometimes. the devil will flash what we like or desire, before our eyes, to deplete our energy for the service to God. You might as well say Amen! When we sin or do something wrong to hurt another, do we feel like going to church or serving God? I know that I don’t until I get it right or feel better. Satan wants to deplete our service to God.

R – Real

The bible tells us in Romans 1:22-23 “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.” This reminds us that science and mankind today are on a search for things that are tangible that they can touch and handle. In other words, people are seeking something real to touch as their God. Most people’s faith is only as big as their eyes can see instead of how much they allow God to open their spiritual eyes.

I find that those who have very small faith are those that have a difficult time releasing their ties to this tangible world. Their words ring out like a bell “I have to see it to believe it.” The reality of the situation is that they are God’s greatest testimonies and biggest liabilities. Once they have seen proof of something, they are very good at convincing others. However, if they fail to see the hand of God move, they tend to be the negative voice that others hear louder than the positive voices.

I encourage everyone to not put 100% of your trust in the things that you can see but have faith in things that you cannot see. Because we, as humans, depend greatly upon our sense of vision we attribute fact and proof to what we can see. If we can’t see it or have difficulty seeing it clearly, we begin to fear and doubt. Fear is our greatest enemy and can be a motivational tool. Do not allow fear to control your mind, will and emotions. Fear is a controllable emotion. If it wasn’t then parent would never be able to comfort their children down. God has sent us a Comforter so we don’t have to bow down to fear! In tomorrow’s devotional we will talk about the final word that we Christians tend to live by daily. Join us again as we address real life issues with biblical answers on Worship With Willie.
